Hey Ladies,
I hope you are loving Ada’s Rules and following along with our bookclub during our November Challenge. Here is our second set of bookclub questions. Give your answers in the comment box.
Ada’s Rules is about loving the body you have while being willing to transform that body in the service of your own health.
6. What are some of the things that Ada loves about being big?
7. At the outset of the novel, it seems that Ada is estranged from her own body—has fallen out of love with it. What does she do that helps her fall back in love with her body?
8. Ada’s concern with her fitness is not only about her health, it is also about the physical health of her daughters. Which do you think was the stronger motivator for Ada’s change—her daughter’s health or her desire for a romantic adventure?

I agree with Jan on the first two but for the third in my opinion it was the romantic adventure she thought so much about.
Ms. S says
Ada’s mindset is that big women were nurturing, powerful and beautiful. She desired to have a Bidmama lap for her grandchildren.
Ada takes a good look at herself, picks herself up and focuses on her. She visits her healthcare provider, spends time with Queenie and other positive and healthy ladies and even visits another church where she can be free of all responsibilities.
I think her desire for a romantic adventure was the catalyst for weight loss. The thought of romance made her more determined.
Jessica says
I think Ada’s desire for a romantic adventure really fuels her goals for weight loss, and I also believe from a motherly aspect she finds weight loss necessary because she doesn’t want her daughters to become her. Everyone needs some type of motivation, and I can relate to that as well. 😀
