Rosie’s Facebook page.
I joined your Facebook page a couple of years ago because of all the inspiring stories. They helped so much, so here is my story.
My name is Rosie. I am 50 years old and from the UK. I started my journey in January 2024 after feeling unwell for the last few months of 2023. My doctor wanted to prescribe medication, but I didn’t want to take it. I wanted to see if I could help myself by losing weight.
I was at the heaviest I had ever been over 16st. (224 pounds) I also had pain in my hips. I found it difficult to bend down to pick things up from the ground, and I felt embarrassed to go out.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was that I would be celebrating my 50th birthday in December 2024, and I wanted to look and feel great for that celebration.
I lost 4 stones (56 pounds) 10 years prior, but over the years, I gained the weight back. However, I knew what to do to lose weight. I ate smaller portion sizes and less carbs. I also drank a lot of water, ate healthier snacks, and moved more.
I initially wanted to lose 4 stones this time around, but I lost 2 and a half stones (35 pounds) between January and May. I could fit into clothes I hadn’t worn in years and was happy with that.
I went on holiday in June, and after that, I couldn’t find my motivation again until November, when I suddenly realized my birthday was only eight weeks away. I felt I could give it another push to lose between another 7-14 lbs. I managed to achieve it, but it wasn’t easy because it was the beginning of the festive season. There was all kinds of temptation everywhere.
What is your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 16st 3lbs. (227 pounds) My weight now is 12st 12lbs. (180 pounds)
What is your height?
My height is 5 feet, 6 inches.

What is your workout routine?
My main exercise is walking. I find it so therapeutic. I walk for around an hour each day on Saturdays and Sundays. I also keep active during the week by walking rather than taking the bus or the car.
This time, my weight loss journey has been different. This is my 3rd time losing a significant amount of weight as an adult. This time, I will keep my eye on the ball and not slip back into bad habits that made me gain the regain weight. I like to use an app to record my daily calorie intake. I feel so good now I am not going back to the old me!
What advice would you like to share?
If you want to lose weight, don’t put it off. Do it now. There is never an ideal time.
You will gain a better, healthier life. Don’t think about the time it will take to lose the weight. The time is going to pass anyway!
