I wanted to share my weight loss journey with you all, as it has been a transformative experience for me. For most of my adult life, I’ve struggled with my weight, and becoming a mom made it even more challenging. As a single super-mom and entrepreneur, my days are packed, leaving little time for self-care.
About a year ago, I had a defining moment where I realized I needed to prioritize my health. I wanted to feel more comfortable in my clothes and boost my energy to keep up with my busy life. I consistently committed to following a calorie deficit and enlisted a trainer’s help. Since then, I’ve lost 48 pounds, and I am continuing on this path.
What sets this journey apart from the others is the grace I’ve learned to give myself. I still enjoy my favorite foods, but in moderation, and my food scale has become an essential tool. If I exceed my calorie deficit, I simply start fresh the next day. In the past, a slip would turn into a cycle of setbacks, but this time, I stay focused and keep moving forward.
What is your workout routine?
My workout routine primarily focuses on weight training. I started with a personal trainer and after about 6 months, I was comfortable continuing on my own in the gym.
How often did you work out?
I work out approximately 3-4 times per week.
What was your starting weight?
My starting weight was 317 pounds.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 261 pounds. (56 pounds down so far)
What is your height?
I am 5’7″.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey one year ago.
How long did your transformation take?
It has taken one year thus far for my transformation.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of giving myself grace and going at my own pace. I’ve lost and gained weight multiple times in my life, but this time, I’ve finally given myself grace. I know what works for me and what doesn’t, and I’ve stuck with that. It’s also crucial to acknowledge that setbacks are part of the journey and that it’s okay to start fresh each day without guilt.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
I advise women looking to lose weight to focus on consistency and self-compassion. Celebrate small victories, embrace your favorite foods in moderation, and don’t be too hard on yourself when you experience setbacks. Remember, progress is not always linear, and every step forward counts!
