What was your motivation?
I was over being tired and gluttonous. Although I accomplished so much in my life, I knew my health should be a priority. The thought of my children caring for me due to “MY” poor eating choices in their adult life did not seem fair. Also, after learning my insurance company did not cover bariatric surgery, I knew that I had to be radical in my journey to overcome come the cycle of self-sabotage and overindulging.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was in pursuit of HEALING. My issue was not the food. The food was a symptom of a bigger issue. Emotionally, I was not my most healthy. I was not diagnosed with anything medically. My soul was tired, and I needed relief. Therefore, giving up was not going to be part of my health journey. I was either going all in, or I may as well have remained the same.
How did you change your eating habits?
I went cold turkey and stopped eating sugar, bread, and processed foods. Additionally, I sought out people who could help me unlearn the food behaviors I developed over the years. I hired a nutrition Coach (Keto Straight with Queet). My Keto Koach served as an accountability partner and helped me see food differently.
What is your workout routine?
I do daily weight training, HIIT circuit training, and boot camp on Saturdays. I also walk 2-5 miles daily.
How often did you work out?
I work out five days a week with a personal trainer (MyOwn Body Goals Gym, Owner Myowa Judkins)
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 307 pounds, and my current weight is 197 pounds.
What is your height? 5’4″
When did you start your journey? April 1, 2022
How long did your transformation take?
Nine months and still losing
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? No
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Food is nutrition. FOOD and living a sedentary lifestyle are not the answer to living a fulfilled life. Eat food to preserve life, not to end it.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
1. No two people’s results are the same. Identify what works for you, do that, and do that often.
2. Do the right thing more than the wrong thing.
3. Be gentle with yourself throughout the journey.
4. Make yourself the priority.
5. Help someone else on their journey the way you would have wanted someone to help you.
