What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My personal motivation was being here for my daughter. I was not ok with the thought of not being here for my daughter and future grandchildren. I know life is full of surprises, so I wanted to do everything in my power to be here for her/them.
How did you change your eating habits?
In the beginning, I started intermittent fasting and following a low carb / high protein diet. I only consumed food during the hours of 12 pm and 8 pm. I tried my best not to eat after 7 pm most days. Fish, chicken, and turkey were my primary options for protein. I also love spring mix salad.
What is your workout routine?
With my busy schedule, I get in 30 minutes of exercise 3 days a week (more if my schedule allows) on the treadmill at the gym and my local high school track. Weight training is also part of my routine.
What was your starting weight?
My starting weight at the beginning of my journey was 421 pounds.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 180 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in January 2010.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Yes, I had the Gastric Bypass in July 2010.
How long did your transformation take?
11 years total.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson thus far is that you will sometimes get discouraged. However, it’s pertinent that you refocus and keep going. You can slow down. Just don’t stop.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
It all starts with the decision to want to. After you make the decision, make little changes and take it one day at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. You didn’t gain weight overnight, and it will definitely take time to actually see your hard work pay off. Keep the course. Your results will come.
