Transformation of the Day: Alisha lost 23 pounds. Since March, she has changed her eating habits and put in work in the gym. She is determined to be a healthy example for her children, and she is celebrating her progress each step of the way.
My name is Alisha. I’ve been on a weight loss journey for ten years, on and off. A lot of the times, it was for the wrong reasons and very short-lived. I went to a concert a few months ago and could barely make it to and from the parking lot. Sitting in the seats was a total embarrassment. I knew then that something had to change. If not for me, for the example I was showing my children, things had to get better. I got in the gym, worked with a personal trainer, and now I’m living a healthier lifestyle. Even though the scale isn’t moving, these pictures motivate me not to give up.
When did you start your journey?
It began in March 2022.
What was your motivation?
My children and not wanting them to go through what I was going through.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What inspired me to keep going was the fact that things have to change when basic activities like walking become a problem, and you have no options left.
How did you change your eating habits?
First, I stopped drinking soda and all sweet drinks. I also started eating breakfast because I was a one huge meal-a-day person. I also cut out weekly fast food meals.
What is your workout routine?
I would do cardio in the past, but this time, I wanted to try something different. So I got a personal trainer and did weight training and cardio.
How often did you work out?
I worked out 3-5 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 282 pounds, and my current weight is 259 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’1″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
How long did your transformation take?
It took almost four months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned to be kind to myself throughout this lifestyle change.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Keep going! It looks impossible when you begin the journey, but it isn’t. It’s hard, but you are strong. Be patient with yourself. Celebrate the entire journey. You got this!
