Transformation of the Day: Kea lost 38 pounds. She achieved these impressive results by becoming a vegetarian and consistently doing HIIT workouts. Whenever she felt like giving up, she focused on her desire to be a happy and active mom for her daughter.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my daughter. Having a small child with bursts of energy was no match for my tired, low-endurance lifestyle. Every time I felt like giving up, I thought of running around with her, carefree and happy.
How did you change your eating habits?
I became a Pescatarian in 2019. However, it’s still very easy to eat unhealthy, meat or not. I still ate way too many carbs at the wrong times, causing my weight to fluctuate rapidly. The real change came from becoming a vegetarian at the beginning of 2021 AND doing consistent HIIT workouts.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consisted of joining the X28 at-home workout team. I did a LOT of HIIT training and didn’t step one foot in the gym. There are beginner programs and advanced levels of the program as well. When I began, I worked out 5-6 times a week. Now that I’m closer to my goal size, I work out 3-4 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 195 lbs, and I currently weigh 157 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’4″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I began my journey in August 2020. My transformation took a year.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery was not part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that YOU have to want any change you make with your life. Mental health is so important because believing in yourself and having self-motivation goes such a long way.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Do NOT become a slave to the scale! Weight loss should never be viewed as a quick fix. Be patient with yourself and remain consistent.
