Shanell lost 16 pounds. After gaining 40 pounds, she decided to take action to slim down. After trying various diets, she decided to embrace a plant-based lifestyle, and it has been a gamechanger.
My name is Shanell. I’m 28 years old, and like most people, the pandemic really got to me. I gained overall 40 pounds. I have tried SO many diets that I just couldn’t stick with. Eventually, I was introduced to a plant-based diet which I’ve been on for almost three months now.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 263 pounds, and I currently weigh 247 pounds. I hope my story can help and motivate others as I continue to strive to lose more weight and stick to my plant-based lifestyle.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was and still is me pursuing a career in nursing. I want to not only look good but feel good while helping people during their healing process.
How did you change your eating habits?
I began my Vegan journey and never looked back. I knew I wanted and needed to lose weight. After trying various diets, I figured I’d give this one a try with hopes that I would stick to it. And it was one of the best decisions I could have made regarding my health and overall diet.
My alcohol intake has decreased, and I cut out pop and juice. Make sure that I drink at least 1 gallon of water a day. I also practice intermittent fasting.
What did your workout routine consist of? How many days a week did you work out?
My main focus was my diet. I just started going back to the gym every once in a while. However, exercise didn’t play a significant role in my weight loss.
What is your height?
I am 5’11”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on October 11, 2021, and was able to see results by November 2021.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had any weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to always bet on myself. This is the first time I have started a diet and actually stuck with it.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to start when you’re ready to fully commit because it can be tough in the beginning. However, it gets better, and it helps to have people around you who support what you’re trying to achieve. TEMPTATION IS REAL, lol.
