Transformation of the Day: LaAngel lost 93 pounds. She wanted to look good on her wedding day and be healthy for her family. Committing to being a vegetarian and working out 3-4 days a week are two lifestyle changes that helped her shed the pounds.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My family was my motivation and looking good on my wedding day.
How did you change your eating habits?
I am vegetarian, which is a cleaner eating method that helps decrease bloating and leads to consuming fewer hormones in foods.
What eating habits led to your weight gain?
What contributed to my weight gain was the microaggressions and discrimination in corporate America.
Did you transition to being a vegetarian as part of your weight loss journey, or were you a vegetarian before?
I was a vegetarian for a few years, and then I stopped for a while. Eventually, I got really serious about it.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I did everything that felt good. I did a lot of anaerobic exercises, yoga, HITT for cardiovascular training, and weight lifting for toning and conditioning.
How many days a week did you work out?
I worked out 3-4 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was211 pounds, and my current weight is 118 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’3″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started 18 months ago, and it’s taken the entire 18 months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Bet on yourself daily.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Keep going. Also, don’t deprive yourself of the foods you love. Moderation is key. Indulging once a month is good, depending on individual goals and needs.
