Transformation of the Day: Marie-Colombe lost 47 pounds. She was constantly bloated, and I had stomach pain. After finding out the stomach pain was due to bacteria, she decided to transform her eating habits and her lifestyle to get healthy. This mother of three young children also found the time to work out while homeschooling and caring for her children.
I’m a mother of three, and my weight loss journey was very challenging. After having my first C-section with my baby girl in 2019, it was very hard for me to lose weight. I tried so many diets, so many programs, and I even had more than three coaches. However, every time I was losing weight, BOOM! It would come back.
I was constantly bloated, and I had stomach pain. It was so painful that one day I fainted and went to the hospital. To make my story short, they found a bacteria that was causing all the pain. So I decided to change the game and to listen to my body first before listening to other people. I’ve been my own coach since then.
I changed my diet and started using natural products. I also created my own detox and tea for my stomach issues.
How did you change your eating habits?
Since I had a lot of stomach issues, I had to stop eating red meat and less gluten. I’m currently eating more vegetables and fruits. I’m still eating fish, chicken, and turkey, but not all the time. I also started making my own smoothies and detox tea which contributed to my weight loss journey.
What did your workout routine consist of?
Since I’m a stay home mom and homeschooled my kids, I couldn’t go to the gym like I used to do it. So I started to do some home workout routines. I do a little bit of everything because it can get boring when you’re doing it alone. I spice it up with dance cardio, jump ropes, Zumba, and weight training.
How many days a week did you work out?
Because of my reality of having three kids under six years old, I can’t spend 40 min-1 hour working out. So 5-6 days a week, I do at least 10 to 25 minutes in the morning.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I weighed more than 237 pounds. Now I weigh 190 pounds. My goal is to reach 150 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2017, but I was using a product from a very popular company. I was losing weight, but I had to stop because I was very sick and gained all the weight after not using it. I started again in 2019 after having my 1st C-section with my baby girl. I had a lot of downs before seeing the ups. It took me two years to finally be under 200 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. Also, I was so disappointed and ashamed about my body, so I thought about having a mommy makeover. I wanted to look like the celebrities. But, when I took the time to look at my own pictures just before having my 3rd baby, I realized that I am my own MOTIVATION. Therefore, I don’t need to have any plastic surgery. Instead, I need to believe in myself and do the work.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned you have to listen to your body first before listening to other people talk about your own body. Your body is telling you about all the red flags.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Remember that it’s a journey and not a race. Be patient with yourself. As women, our bodies go through so many things. By trying to lose weight fast, we don’t give it time to heal.
My desire is to help and inspire other women like me by sharing my journey. It wasn’t easy. I had to do it again and again, but no matter my sickness or other circumstances, I didn’t give up on myself. Let’s stay connected and continue this journey together. Thank you for taking the time and reading my story. Sending you all love from Canada.
