Transformation of the Day: Mercedes lost 77 pounds. She shared with us how she transformed her lifestyle by abandoning unhealthy eating habits and working out. Developing discipline and patience has been key to her success.
Hello, I’m Mercedes H., and I was featured back in April of 2019. I have now lost a total of 77 pounds!
When did you start your weight loss journey?
My weight loss journey first began in April 2018. Before losing weight, I had terrible eating habits, drank lots of soda & snacks, and did zero exercise. I was obese and would get tired just doing simple things like cleaning, walking up stairs, or walking to my car. As overweight as I was, I did not have any health issues.
What is your motivation?
What keeps me motivated is seeing these results! Once I started to see results, I was in love with my new body!
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My current weight is 234 pounds, and my starting weight was 311 pounds. (I don’t look 234 lbs because I am TALL!)
What is your height?
My height is 5’9″.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I currently work out six days a week at the gym, and I go jogging daily. I work with my personal trainer on three of those days.
How did you change your eating habits?
I count calories, and I only consume 1600 calories a day. I also drink 6-7 bottles of water a day and don’t drink any sugary drinks like soda or juice. (Water only. I rarely I will have a little red wine, but I gave up alcohol otherwise). I eat sugar-free snacks as well. I don’t eat any fast food at all. Instead, I eat at home.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be patient, especially in the beginning. There were plenty of times when I wanted to give up because the weight wasn’t coming off fast enough for me, but with patience came great results.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
It takes a whole lot of DISCIPLINE. I fight my food cravings all the time, but I never give in. Also, you must exercise and do a lot of cardio.
Losing weight is not a quick 10-14 day process; it is a complete lifestyle change. You will pretty much have to eat healthy for a lifetime, not just temporarily.
