Transformation of the Day: Mia lost 85 pounds. She realized that the pounds were piling on due to stress. Intermittent fasting, low-carb meals, and strength training have been key to her success. Living a healthy lifestyle is important because she wants to be a healthy example for her daughter.
I should’ve been happy after becoming a mom, a wife, and an MBA graduate. However, my weight had gotten ridiculously high due to stress. Intermittent fasting, eating low-carb meals, and strength training have helped me take off 85 pounds. I couldn’t excel in areas of my life without putting myself first and healing from the inside out.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I have a little girl looking up to me now. She asked me once if she would have a big tummy once she grew up. I couldn’t have her thinking that being overweight was something to look forward to in adulthood.
Eating Habits: What is your intermittent fasting schedule? Did you have a daily goal for grams of carbs?
My IF schedule: OMAD (one meal a day) 5 days a week and 16:8 on the weekends. I didn’t set a carb goal.
What did your workout routine consist of?
When I’m strength training, I alternate between upper and lower body days. I also love elliptical training. I set the resistance between 8 and 16 for 30 minutes.
How many days a week did you work out?
I work out 4-5 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 345 pounds, and I currently weigh 260 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in January 2018. The transformation has been on and off to the present day (over three years).
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Consistency is key. The journey only progresses if I constantly work at it.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Find what works best for you. Don’t feel pressure to adopt just one style of eating or working out. The journey is all about evolving into a better you. You’ll have to learn to adapt to changes.
