Transformation of the Day: Dedra lost 43 pounds. After giving birth to three daughters and having three c-sections, enough was enough. She was tired of starting over and over again, being depressed, and lacking confidence. She shared how she transformed with exercise, healthy food, determination, and lots of patience.
What was your motivation?
I have always struggled with weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. I have tried so many times to lose weight, but I would always give up until I said enough is enough! After giving birth to three daughters and having 3 C-SECTIONS, I made so many changes to my life. However, I’m still not done! I’ve done a lot of hard work and shed many tears, but it was definitely worth it! This is only the beginning!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What inspired me to keep going was myself. Honestly, I always gave up on everything I started, but it was just different with my fitness journey. After gaining so much weight year after year, I became so depressed, and I had no confidence at all. After I had my 3rd daughter, I was so tired of starting over and over, so I went full force into changing my life.
How did you change your eating habits?
I gave up all fast-food restaurants and processed foods. Then I replaced those foods with vegetables, fruits, and lots of baked chicken and fish. I stayed away from fried foods and gave up sweets, like cakes, donuts, sodas, and juices. Water was it for me. I did not follow any specific diet plans or programs.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workouts started with cardio. I was stuck there for a long time until I learned about weight training, which changed my body completely.
How often did you work out?
I started working out 3-4 times a week now I’m training six days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 168 pounds, and my current weight is 125 pounds, which is the goal weight I set when I began my journey.
What is your height?
I’m 4’11”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey six years ago, and during those years, I was very inconsistent, honestly. After each one of my daughters was born, I would restart my journey, which continued until 2020. October 2020 is when I started my transformation for the last time. I was determined like never before.
Is weight loss surgery or skin removal surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t have any surgery for weight loss.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson was CONSISTENCY. Once I began being consistent, everything followed.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I want to share you can change the impossible. You can do anything you set your mind to. If I can do it after having my three daughters and three c-sections, so can you! Just remain consistent, patient, and be determined. Stay focused on your goals!
Also, I want to say to all moms who had children by c-sections that it’s possible to get a flat stomach. I often hear how it is not possible without surgery, but you don’t need it. Put in the work!!
