Transformation of the Day: Charmaine lost 235 pounds. We have been following her journey since 2015. She knows how challenging it can be to maintain your results, and that determination and consistency are key. She got results with intermittent fasting, exercise, and cutting back on carbs.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I am not a quitter. I take this journey very seriously. I challenge myself and refuse to quit until I hit my goal. I am determined beyond determined.
How did you change your eating habits?
I like the intermittent fasting program. I do not eat past a certain hour of the day, usually before 6 pm. My cut-off time used to be 8 pm, but I have pushed it up a couple of hours. I eat all of my meals within an 8-hour window.
I am VERY careful with carbs. I love plant-based foods and do not eat red meat or pork. I have also nearly stopped eating chicken. I love salmon and tuna, plant burgers, and egg whites. I stopped buying large portions of anything snack-related. If I do bring snacks home, they are single-sized portions. If I want something crunchy, I have popcorn that I pop at home or skinny girl popcorn.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I am a huge fan of walking briskly. When the weather is inclement, I rely on indoor walking videos. I usually do 2 miles.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was at least 510 pounds. My weight is currently in the 280s. I am tall, so I carry it well. I am aiming for 240 pounds minimum.
What is your height?
My height is 5 feet, 10 inches.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I have been starting and stopping my journey seriously since 2014. I hit plateaus and went through menopause (which halted my journey), but I never quit. For the past two years, I have really put the pedal to the medal.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Absolutely not. NO WAY. Surgery did not pack on these ponds. Eating fatty junk food and fast food did. So I have to undo the damage that I did to myself—NO easy way out for this Queen.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is that the scale does not lie. You can lie to yourself, “sneak eat,” and say that you “only eat salad,” but when you step on the scale, it tells the truth.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to MAKE UP YOUR MIND. Once you make up your mind, your body will follow. Also, do not be discouraged because it does not happen overnight. You have to be strict with yourself.

I commend you on your loss!!! You have made me rethink how I do things such as fasting, cutting off when I eat as well as what I eat. I have been trying to lose weight for a while I will start then stop, start then stop. I want to lose weight and build muscle. Once again job well done.
