Transformation of the Day: Essie lost 72 pounds. This mother of three told us that her children give her the daily motivation she needs to keep going. Doing cardio every day and adopting a low-carb lifestyle has truly worked for her.
Between 2013 and 2021, I have had three kids. In addition to this, I’ve always been overweight, even as a young kid. Now, I waved bye to over 70lbs, and I hope never to see it again. I work out regularly and try my best to maintain a low-carb diet. It’s a lifestyle change.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? My kids are my daily motivation. Interacting with them gives me the motivation to keep on going. I want to be around for them.
How did you change your eating habits? I stopped drinking soda and eating sweets. I also cut back on red meat and sweets. I stick to salads, tuna fish, parfaits with Greek yogurts and fruits. Peanut and banana is my favorite go to snack.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out? My workout routine consists of 30 minutes of cardio every day and a daily goal of 10,000 steps. I weight train three days a week. (I work out every day. It has become a hobby.)
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? My starting weight was 323 pounds in 2013. Since then, I have had three kids. My weight has fluctuated throughout the years. I officially restarted my journey on 1/1/2021. As of now, it’s been six months. My current weight is 251 pounds.
What is your height? I’m 5’3″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? My weight loss is natural.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? I’ve learned to have patience and not beat myself up if I don’t see the results I’m looking for.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? My advice is to be consistent and don’t give up.
