Transformation of the Day: Channon lost 103 pounds. She had very high blood pressure, and her doctor told her she was a stroke waiting to happen. This mom of two prioritized her health so that she can be there for her sons for years to come. She shared with us how she took action to change her life.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was my children. I have two boys, and my youngest son lost his dad at nine years old. That loss made me realize that I’m all he has. If something happens to me, he will have no one to care for him.
When did you start your journey?
I began my journey in 2016.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Yes, I had gastric bypass weight loss surgery in 2016 due to being borderline diabetic and having severely high blood pressure. My doctor said I was a stroke waiting to happen.
How did you change your eating habits?
I began a high protein, low carb diet. I cut out pasta, bread, potatoes, and rice. I went from eating 3000-4000 calories a day to 1200 calories a day. What really helped was replacing two meals with high protein shakes.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?.
My workout route was very simple: I walked. I started by walking for 30 minutes and then increased more and more from there. Once I built my stamina, I added light weights, pilates, and yoga.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 276 pounds, and my current weight is 173 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5 foot, 4 inches tall.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned was to use food as fuel. I also learned that we are visual eaters, so I decided to start eating from a smaller plate. The plate still looked full, but in actuality, there was less on the plate.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
The advice I would give any woman is to never give up on herself. Remind yourself that you are doing this to become a better, healthier you. Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do it or that the journey is too hard. Don’t let them tell you that you will never achieve your goal because you will.
