Renee lost 25+ pounds. She and her husband partnered to create a healthier lifestyle for their children, their family, and each other. By embracing portion control, changing her mindset, and being consistent, she has transformed.
I’ve lost 29 pounds with exercise and healthier food portions. My motivation is myself, my children, and my husband.
When did you start your journey?
I started this journey at 198 pounds on May 21, 2020. My husband also started his journey on that same day. We began this healthy living journey because we wanted a change for our family. We want to be an example for our children, our parents, and each other.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits first by portion control and changing my mindset. Now I know I don’t have to finish everything on my plate. I cut back on carbohydrates, pasta, bread, and rice. I replaced those foods with green leafy vegetables and cauliflower.
What was your workout routine?
I started by just walking my neighborhood. After a few months, I moved up to jogging and/or speed walking in my neighborhood and the outskirts of my neighborhood. I went from 1 mile to up to 4 miles at least twice a week.
After about six months, I obtained a trainer who pushed me even further than I never imagined I could go. I did strength training and cardio with my trainer at a gym three times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 198 pounds, and I got down to 169 pounds. Today, I weigh 173 pounds.
What is your height?
5 feet, 6 inches tall.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I have learned that nothing is impossible when you put your mind to it. I often hear that I am aging backward at age 41.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
It is never too late to get started, and your pace is just that, your pace.
