Transformation of the Day: Erikka has gone from a size 20 to a size 13. The Ketogenic diet paired with exercise has been a gamechanger for her. She has reversed PCOS, reclaimed her health, and gained tons of confidence.
I started Keto in 2020 after my doctor suggested it to me, and I am so glad that I did. Keto gave me my life back. I was able to reverse PCOS and gain confidence that I never had before. The journey is long, but I am up for the challenge.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was my future children. I knew I wanted to be the type of mom who was active with my children daily. I also wanted to be at the healthiest weight possible when I started the journey of motherhood. My daily motivational phrase is “Imagine if you don’t quit this time.” I would tell myself that DAILY while working out, and it really helped get me through.
How did you change your eating habits?
I switched to the Ketogenic lifestyle. It has been the most sustainable way to eat that I’ve found, and it doesn’t feel like a diet. I also drink Apple Cider Vinegar DAILY, which has also helped. I removed sugar, traditional carbs, chips, soda, and other things of that nature.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I worked out three times a week. I initially started with just cardio (on the treadmill, elliptical, etc.). As I continued my journey, I added weight lifting and strength training to my workouts and achieved even better results.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 280 pounds. I do not know my current weight as of right now. I wore a size 20 in pants. Now I wear a size 13. (Shirts – Before: XXL and Now: L)
What is your height?
I am 5’2″.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started in January 2019 but didn’t start seeing results until I switched to Keto in January 2020. My transformation took a year.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Change happens slowly, but something is happening.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Be gentle with yourself. We have one body that does a lot for us, so be kind. Even if you aren’t where you may want to be, this same body will help you get there. Speak well of your body and be positive. Thank your body for that run or that walk. Tell your legs on leg day that you appreciate them. I think being kind makes the journey sweeter.
