Transformation of the Day: Rosemarie lost 43 pounds with healthy food and exercise. This Physical Therapist will turn 57 this month, and she is thriving. Her life changed after she broke her ankle, had surgery, and had to be inactive for three whole months. After this setback, she decided it was time for a lifestyle change.
I will be 57 years old in March 2021, and I’m so happy that I’ve made positive changes to my health. I’m a Physical Therapist and have been a yo-yo dieter for most of my adult life. In October 2019, my life changed. I broke my ankle and had to have surgery. I sat in a chair for three months, feeling sorry for myself (my ankle was non-weight bearing). It was hard even getting out of my house.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I wanted to make a change for my health and get my mojo back. What inspired me to keep going was my husband, who believed in me and encouraged me to stay the course.
I needed a lifestyle change and not a diet. While sitting in the chair, I looked at Instagram and saw a story from a fitness coach explaining how he could stay in a calorie deficit, eat the right amount of protein, not deprive himself of his favorite foods, lift weights 3-4 days a week and still lose weight. His name is Jordan Syatt. He is in partnership with Susan Niebergall, who, in her mid 50’s, was able to transform her body when she hired him as her coach. I joined their SF Inner Circle. The Inner Circle has exercise, fat loss, and maintenance programs. It also has a community of very supportive members.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consists of weight lifting four days a week with active rest days of walking or an easy bike ride.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 256 pounds, and my current weight is 213 pounds. I’m continuing on my journey.
What is your height?
I’m 5’4″.
How long did your transformation take?
My transformation to this point took a year.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Weight loss surgery is not part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson I learned is that it will take as long as it takes and if you mess up one day, just get back to it the next day.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Don’t set an end date. The scale is only data. Measure your progress by your increase in strength and decrease in measurements.

I love BWLW! I really enjoy the motivational weight loss stories and pictures. You guys are wonderful! I was wondering if you could specifically have a section where you post success stories of women who are 50+ years old. Those are the results that give me the most hope. It’s just that we are dealing with issues different from women younger. Just a thought. BWLW is so necessary. Thank you so much for your dynamic site. God Bless!
