Transformation of the Day: Renee lost 140 pounds. She was unhappy with the way she looked and how she felt. In December 2019, this proud Zeta Phi Beta soror had Gastric Sleeve surgery and committed to a new lifestyle.
What was your motivation?
I was tired of how I looked and felt. I was very unhappy with my body.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I really wanted to achieve my goals. Feeling better each day, working out, and seeing the results kept me going.
When did you start your journey?
I started in December 2019. I had Gastric Sleeve weight loss surgery on December 16th, 2019.
How long did your transformation take?
One year
How did you change your eating habits?
I had gastric sleeve surgery, so I had to change my eating habits before and after so the surgery would be successful.
I stopped drinking sodas and sugary drinks. I cut out carbohydrates (pasta, bread, rice) and drank more water. I eat more protein, veggies, fruit, protein drinks, and lean meats (salmon, chicken, and turkey). I also eat some cheeses.
What did your workout routine consist of?
How often did you work out? Once the pandemic happened, I started working out with my trainer via Zoom five days a week for 40 minutes at 7:30 am. We begin with a warm-up and then mixed cardio. Sometimes we focus on abs, back, and leg routines.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 350 pounds. My current weight is 210 pounds.
What is your height?
5’3″
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned is that I will never allow myself to gain this weight back. I see a significant change physically, mentally, and emotionally. I am loving it.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
No matter what route you take for weight loss, find what works best for you and set goals along the way.
