Tamecca lost 42 pounds. Her wake-up call came while she was trying on clothes and realized she’d gone up several dress sizes. By working with a weight loss coach, she got the guidance and support she needed. Eating five small meals a day and making exercise a priority truly paid off.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was trying on clothes. I realized that I was no longer a size 10. I’d ballooned up to a size 16, and that revelation knocked me down. What started my weight loss journey is reading stories and seeing before and after photos from Terry Starks. I said to myself. “It cannot be true that they lost the weight in 8 weeks.” So I decided to connect with Terry on Facebook.
What inspired me to keep going is Terry. He would always tell me, “Mecca, you can do this. I will be with you until the end.” I really needed that positive, uplifting energy to keep me going. I was calling Terry almost every day to hear those positive words. Terry sent positive, inspirational quotes daily that kept me going, and I’m still going.
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits change with a simple plan. Terry directed me to eat healthy, small meals five times a day. I said, “I’m not able to eat 5 small meals a day.” Terry said, “Trust me, you can.” My eating habits totally changed.
I ate brown rice, small salads, fruits, and fresh or frozen green vegetables. I had to give up bread and fast food. I started prepping my meals at home for the whole week. I already had a Georgia Forman grill, and I purchased an air fryer (which was the best decision I made).
Everything is in the right portions. I purchase a scale to make sure I was eating the right amount of ounces that Terry instructed me to eat daily.
What is your workout routine?
Each morning I do 30 minutes on the treadmill. I also do 30 minutes in the evening, five days a week. It was hard at first because I had to get up at 4:45 am to workout, eat breakfast, and be at work by 8 am. However, as the days and weeks went by, it got easier.
What is your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 250 pounds, and my current weight is 208 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’9″.
When did you start your weight loss journey?
My journey started with Terry Starks on September 28, 2020. I have lost 40 pounds in 8-weeks just by changing my eating habits and eating healthier.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson that I have learned is to value my health. It’s not hard to eat healthier. We just make it hard.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I would tell them that you can do it. Also, get a good support system.
I still look at the before and after photos on Terry Starks page because they motivate me to continue my journey. I thank God for Terry. He is the real Diet Doctor. He helped and supported me throughout my weight loss journey, and he is still there helping me now.
