Leonie lost two dress sizes. During quarantine, something clicked for her. She started using her Peloton that had just been collecting dust and switched up her eating habits. Tracking her progress with a scale is demotivating for her. So, instead, she pays attention to how her clothes fit.
What was your motivation?
I owned a Peloton bike for about two years, and it was just collecting dust until the pandemic started. During quarantine, I found myself eating and sleeping. Then, it finally clicked, and I realized that I could not afford to gain another pound.
Around April, I decided to get on my Peloton and commit to at least 15 minutes a day, 5 to 7 days a week. Now I am doing 30-minute classes, which is a total of at least 8 miles a day. Most days, I do 45 minutes to an hour (10-13 miles).
How did you change your eating habits?
I still need to work on my eating habits, but they have greatly improved. I still eat carbs and sugar (in moderation).
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
At my last weight-in at my doctor’s office, I weighed 285 pounds (January of this year – pre-pandemic). I don’t own a scale (I’m certain I put on weight between January and April). I haven’t weighed myself since then because the scale is my mortal enemy.
All I need to know is I feel so much better my work scrubs fit. I have had to buy all new clothes. I went from a size 18W-20W to a size 14W-16W. (from a size 2-3X to a size XL-1X.)
Also, my blood pressure IS UNDER CONTROL! My last blood pressure reading was 115/78! I refuse to step on a scale because it’s MY weakness. Whenever I used to step on the scale, I would get depressed and punish myself by binging on chocolate and ice cream. Ain’t nobody got time for that, lol!
What is your height?
I’m 5’3″.
Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
My weight loss journey does not include surgery. However, I am sure entertaining treating myself to a mommy makeover in the future by a very reputable cosmetic surgeon in the Dominican Republic.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that exercise is key to weight loss. I’ve tried many yo-yo diets that worked, but I ended up gaining the weight back and then some. I learned that health is wealth.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice: Take care of yourself because it’s the only YOU that you’ve got.
