Transformation of the Day: Lauren lost 80 pounds. She decided to change her life because she was faced with health concerns, like high blood pressure and constant migraines, at 27 years old. She got results by maintaining a calorie deficit, working out, and not letting one bad day take her off course.
What was your motivation?
I decided to lose weight because I was 27 years old, and I had several health problems, including high blood pressure, plantar fasciitis, and constant migraines. I felt horrible every day.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I have tried so many times to lose weight in the past. I am so proud of myself for actually doing it this time. I was motivated to keep going because I worked so hard for this, and all my hard work would go to waste if I went back to my old habits. My quality of life has improved. I have so much energy, and my confidence has skyrocketed. I feel healthy and strong. I don’t ever want to feel like I felt before this journey, ever again.
How did you change your eating habits?
I downloaded the app MyFitnessPal so that I could track my calorie intake. I don’t eat any fast food, and I don’t drink any calories.
I stick to around 1530 calories a day. Maintaining a calorie deficit has definitely worked for me, as I have lost 80 pounds in the last 18 months.
Tell us about your workout routine. How often do you workout?
I have a treadmill in my garage, and I walk every day for at least 45 minutes. When I can go to the gym, I focus on weight training to tone up as I’m losing the weight.
I work out at least five days a week, and on my rest days, I still do about 20 minutes of light abs/arm work at home.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started my journey 18 months ago at 243 pounds. I currently weigh 163 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’5″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had any surgery, and I don’t plan to get surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’ve learned not to let a “bad” day turn into a bad week or month. If you over-indulge one day, get right back on track the next day. This journey is not about perfection. It’s about consistency.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
If you have a “bad” day, just get right back on track the next day. Don’t let a bad day become a bad week or month!
