Update: Shout out to Jasmine! She lost 79 pounds, and she’s maintained her success for almost a year. Also, today is her Birthday. Adopting a Keto lifestyle has been a key part of her transformation, along with working out three days a week.
What is your current weight?
165 pounds
How have you maintained your weight loss/results?
Since I started Keto back in April 2020, I’ve maintained my weight by making sure I work out for at LEAST 1 hour in the gym three days a week. I also do at-home workouts.
I do keto recipe tutorials and provide homemade Keto friendly meals for individuals who are transitioning into Keto to make their journey easier. Doing this keeps me on track as well.
Of the lessons you’ve learned on your journey, which one stands out the most at this point?
One of the lessons that I’ve learned on my journey that stands out the most is how I’ve come to realize how important consistency, self-motivation, and discipline are when it comes to actually maintaining your goals/preferred weight. It can definitely become challenging, but looking back on how far I’ve come on my journey and inspiring other women to lose weight is what keeps me going the most because I know how hard it was for me when I first began my weight-loss journey.
Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
Ladies, I know it can be hard finding what works best for you in terms of losing weight and sticking to it. But, once you figure that out, always remember why you’re doing it and what you don’t want to go back to. Also, figure out a “self-motivation mechanism,” whether it’s taking plenty of before and after photos or simply writing down daily aspirations/goals. This will 100% keep you on track to achieving your goal! @theofficialjaynic
Transformation of the Day: Jasmine lost 79 pounds. After many failed weight loss attempts, she felt like nothing was working. At the beginning of 2020, her wake-up call came when she began to have health issues connected to her weight. She decided to try the Keto diet and make hiking and hitting the gym a priority.
Since 2016, I have struggled with losing weight due to many failed attempts with various diets that I tried. Nothing seemed to work. I would “eat healthy,” work out and drink plenty of water, but NOTHING seemed to work.
At the beginning of 2020, I started to notice that my weight was slowly affecting my health. I began to have back problems, trouble breathing, and I was tired all the time! Once I went to the doctor in April and weighed in, I knew it was time to find something that would work for me. That is when I found out about the Ketogenic diet.
I started Keto on April 25, 2020. I can honestly say that going Keto has been one of the best decisions I have ever made as far as my weight loss journey. I started off weighing 244 pounds. As of today, I weigh 165 pounds. In a matter of 7 months, with hard, dedication, and consistency, I have managed to lose 79 pounds, and I have never felt better!
How did you change your eating habits as you transitioned to the Keto diet?
When I began my transition, I only ate low-carb and high protein foods and healthy fats. I stopped eating bread COMPLETELY. No more pasta, chips, candy, or fried foods. My only fluid intake has come from water, Sparkling ICE (if I want something with a little flavor), and almond milk. I eat more veggies now, and I snack a lot on strawberries, Greek yogurt, and Keto approved snacks.
What does your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine consists of hiking twice a week for 40 minutes to an hour, making sure I walk at least three hills before the end of my hike. I also go to the gym twice a week to work out the rest of my body for 1-1.5 hours.
I used to hike every day, until recently. Now I make sure I get a gym session between the days that I hike, and I rest one day a week.
What is your height?
I am 5’4″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned so far is that you can literally do whatever you set your mind to, with discipline, willpower, hard work, and CONSISTENCY!
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Stay focused on your goal, and do NOT get discouraged if you don’t see the results that you want right away. Take as many photos as you can so you can make “before and after” collages at least every two weeks to see your progress. I say that because many women will get discouraged when they weigh themselves and don’t see much of a difference. They may still weigh the same as when they first started, or some may potentially gain weight.
The issue is that you can lose fat and gain muscle (which is good), but you won’t be able to tell if you depend on a scale to tell you whether you’re losing weight or not. Body transformation photos are what will keep you going. I call them motivation flicks.
