Transformation of the Day: Brittney lost 40 pounds with healthy eating habits and exercise. Although she has always been active, her eating habits were holding her back. With her support system and her trainer cheering her on, and her son as her inspiration, she is determined to be the best version of herself.
If you know me, then you know I’ve always been active. However, my eating habits were trash. This goes to show that for some people, no amount of physical activity can outwork a bad diet. It’s crazy because I don’t even remember being the size I was in the before photo (in 2016), but there it is.
I’ll forever be grateful for the people who continuously push me and encourage me. There are too many names to type, but y’all know who you are. To @fitnesstheory, I simply say thank you. Thank you for pushing me (sometimes almost to tears) and helping me see that I am so much stronger than I thought I was.
This transformation was a choice, and I’m proud of myself for DECIDING to be one of the best version of myself. Yes, there is more!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My son has been my biggest inspiration to keep going. I want to make sure that I’m feeling my best and looking my best so I can be there for him as he continues to grow and go through life. Also, I feel like I have to set an example for him. I can’t be preaching eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle but not practicing it myself.
How did you change your eating habits?
I had a meal plan that my trainer, @fitnesstheory, gave me when I did a 30 Day “Stick to the Plan” challenge. There was no eating out, no sweets, no fried foods, no smoking, and no drinking for the entire month. Clean eating only! I literally had to stick to the plan.
What did your workout routine consist of?
When I started, I was training three times a week. The workouts were mostly HIIT workouts. Then, when I started working with my personal trainer, we incorporated weighting training and boxing into my routine.
How often do you workout?
I work out 4 to 5 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 220 pounds, and I currently weigh 180 pounds.
What is your height?
5’7″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I’ve been on my fitness journey since 2016, but I would start then stop. It was a cycle that I just couldn’t get out of. It wasn’t until I participated in the “Stick to the Plan” challenge that I really got serious about my health and fitness. This last year has been my most consistent year yet. I’ve seen so much growth in myself both mentally and physically.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is not to be so hard on myself and to give myself grace.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Your fitness journey is exactly that…YOURS! It’s literally you vs. you. Be kind to yourself, take it one day at a time, do what works for you and your body, and know that you got this!
