Paige lost 30 pounds this year by switching to a Keto lifestyle. Her journey began as an effort to lose weight before going on holiday. When her vacation got canceled in May, she decided to push forward and find out what would happen if she didn’t give up this time.
Hey, I’m Paige, 24 years old, and I live a Keto lifestyle. I’m about 5 foot, 3 inches tall, and I’ve lost a total of 30 pounds, dropping from 14 stone 4 (200 pounds) to 12.2 stone (170 pounds) in just under six months (March-August 2020). I started seeing results with Keto within the first WEEK. I lost a lot of bloating, and I was able to fit my old size 12-16 jeans after a week just by cutting carbs! (I was wearing size 18-20 before). This was the beginning of my journey.
I’d be lying to you if I said I got up one day and decided I just wanted to change my life. Well, I did – but I also had a holiday planned. That was always my motivation when I was losing weight. I’d lose weight with a yo-yo diet, go on holiday, slowly put all the weight back on and do it again the next year.
I broke that habit in 2020. I had a holiday planned for May, so I started losing some weight by drinking fresh juices at first. Then, I decided to do Keto, but correctly this time. (I did it last year but with much less knowledge).
This time the difference was I wrote down my goals on post-it notes to hold myself accountable. Goals like…
- “I will lose two stone in 8 weeks.”
- “I will drink 2 liters of water a day.”
Mentally, this prepared me for what I was about to do. Of course, at this point, my focus was still going on holiday, and these aren’t the greatest goals for long term success. Eventually, things CHANGED, but doing this helped me in the beginning.
Even though these post-it note goals are outdated now and I don’t rely on them, I keep them on my wardrobe where I can see them. They are a reminder of where I came from and how I started. God forbid I did ever slip up, they’d remind me I could do it again.
Fast forward a little bit… I started Keto, and it was working. When my holiday got canceled, I kept going because I fell in love with the results. My journey became much less about the holiday and more about getting my life back. I wanted to be and feel healthier. I wanted to find out what would happen if I didn’t give up this time.
I was learning to cook. I was able to be flexible with my eating habits and still eat many of the foods I love. (i.e., peanut butter pancakes, burgers, and chicken wings!!). I love Keto because it’s so flexible. I can make this a lifestyle because I don’t feel restricted in my eating!
Keto provided the foundation for my weight loss. I cut out everything that didn’t agree with my body (things that would give me bloating, tummy aches, heartburn, etc.) such as bread, cakes, pasta, sugary foods, constant take aways [take out meals]. I also learned how to make healthier alternatives, like Keto cookies. I eat healthy 95% of the time, and I try to keep active.
I started my fitness journey by running with my boyfriend a few times a week and doing HIIT workouts. Eventually, I found that I really enjoyed skipping rope as well. It was something simple, and I enjoyed it, so it didn’t necessarily feel like exercise. Sometimes skipping is all I do for my workout.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that I am capable of ANYTHING I put my mind to. This journey hasn’t just been physical. It’s mental too. I’ve found confidence and a love of LIVING. I feel beautiful again, and I feel strong.
If you want something bad enough, you have to get up and chase it. No one can do it for you. You have to take the first step, Plan what you’re going to do, make a start, and never look back. I promise that you will fall in love with all of your many possibilities if you give yourself a chance️.
I’m incredibly passionate about supporting women who want to lose weight and spreading the word about Keto to help women like me get their lives back and truly find themselves.
I also recently launched my first blog post, “The 10 things I wish I knew when I did Keto the first time around.” I speak about my first time doing Keto, the mistakes I made, and my top tips for making Keto a lifestyle and losing lots of weight. (Including the importance of finding community, eating foods you love, and cooking food with flavor.)
