Marquita lost 57 pounds by focusing on lifestyle change instead of dieting. She is 6’7″ and a mom to three girls. She found success by joining a Christian weight loss program and practicing intermittent fasting.
My name is Marquita. I’m a mom of three girls, and I’m married. I’m also a very tall lady. When I tell folks how much I weighed and how much I weigh now, they are shocked.
I’m 6’7″. At my heaviest, I weighed 337 pounds, and I currently weigh 280 pounds. I’ve lost 50+ lbs since September 2019. I would love to lose about 30 more pounds. I believe a good goal since I’m so tall, and I don’t want to look sickly.
What did your motivation?
My health is what started me on this journey. I have high blood pressure, which is scary. I feel good in my clothes and my work uniform. Now I am comfortable with where I am.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started the Shibboleth program in September 2019. It’s a Christian program that works like a support group and includes recipes. It’s a lifestyle, NOT a DIET. I cut out junk but do drink like Coke Zero and Sprite Zero. Most weekends, I eat whatever but still fast and try to have a stop time.
I also fast a lot. I do 16:8 intermittent fasting and try to stop eating by 6 or 7 pm in the evening.
What does your workout routine consist of?
I walk, but not daily, and sometimes ride my bike. If the weather is bad, I’ll do a 30-minute workout from YouTube.
I was addicted to getting 10k steps a day. Now I’m more focused on closing my rings in my Apple Watch.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery for me – All natural.
How long did your transformation take?
This month will make a year since I’ve started this journey. I’m still shocked I’ve kept the weight off this long.
