Transformation of the Day: Charletta lost 95 pounds. Her motivation is her health. She had high blood pressure, and her weight was affecting an ankle injury. She did her research, committed to the Ketogenic diet, and worked out consistently to get these incredible results.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was a desire to fix my health issues to live a longer life with my children. My health issues were high blood pressure and having too much weight on an injured ankle. Now that I’ve lost the weight and changed my lifestyle, no more meds and no more surgery.
When did you start your journey?
I started the Ketogenic diet in July of 2019.
How did you change your eating habits?
On the Keto diet, I limited my carb intake to 20 grams per day. No sugar, flour, pasta, rice, or sweets. I ate a lot of veggies and baked meats.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I walked two miles a day at least five days a week. I did cardio with weights six days a week.
During this journey, I researched, researched, and researched, repeatedly, until I found foods and workouts that I enjoyed and that fit me. That helped me stick to it. No cheat days!
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 275 pounds. On July 3, 2020, almost a year later, I weighed in at 180 pounds. My current weight is also 180 pounds (Sept 2020). My total weight loss from this journey is 95 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’4″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not have any weight loss surgery—strictly low carb/keto dieting.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson that I have learned so far is to stay consistent. The advice that I would share with women who want to lose weight is to focus on a goal weight and stay consistent whether the results are slow or fast. It takes time.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I’d tell other women that you can do it! Stay consistent and train your mind first.
