O’Sheia lost 79 pounds by changing her eating habits and working out six days a week. Her journey began after she saw herself in the photos from her daughter’s first birthday. Despite being a busy traveling nurse figured out how to make her eating and exercise routine work.
I am 38 years old, and I began my journey in 2017 after seeing myself in photos from my daughter’s first birthday party. Also, I got tired of people asking me if I was still pregnant.
What motivated you to keep going?
My motivation to keep going is that I like the way I look, but I LOVE the way I feel!
How did you change your eating habits?
I began by cutting out fast foods and sugary snacks. I cut down on portion sizes, carbs, sweets, and junk food.
I adapted a low carb/high protein diet and cooked 90% of my meals from home, and I meal prep weekly. (This is no easy task, being a travel nurse, living out of hotels! I carry more food with me than clothing.)
Tell us about your workout routine.
I began working out six days a week at home by using YouTube videos, walking, jump roping, and weightlifting. I mix up my routine, depending on how I feel that day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My current weight is 175 pounds, but I started at 254 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not have any surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I have learned is that good is not the enemy; a negative mindset is. (I can be my own worst enemy if I let me)
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Just keep going, even when the weight comes off slower than you like. I didn’t start to see results until about a year into the journey. Just keep going, even when you slip up and have a meal you feel guilty about. Start over with the next meal. I have learned that consistency is key!
