Laura lost 65 pounds by going Keto. Intermittent fasting and walking are also part of her routine. She learned that results don’t come overnight. Slow and steady wins the race. Now, this Certifed Chef shares her Keto recipes online as a resource to help others.
I started the Keto diet in April 2018 and lost 65 pounds in seven months. I combined Keto with intermittent fasting and light exercise. Since then, I have dedicated my page to sharing and creating delicious recipes (I’m also a certified chef). I also share tools to support people on their weight loss journeys.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Looking back on how I looked and felt before has made me realize I was not in a place in my life that I wanted to return to. I am my own motivation, and seeing my progress inspires me to continue. I know it’s not always that simple. Thankfully, there is an amazing virtual community ready to support you along the way.
What are some of the Keto food you love? Do you have a daily goal for carbs?
This is so hard — I love all food! My go-to meal is baked chicken thighs with two veggie sides, like cheesy cauliflower mash and roasted broccoli. I also love a simple meat and cheese platter. I aim for less than 20 net carbs per day.
What did your light exercise routine consist of?
Daily walks for at least an hour. Occasionally, I did yoga and strength training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight
My starting weight was 200 pounds, and my current weight is 135 pounds.
What is your height?
5’6”
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Slow and steady wins the race. This is a journey to take back your health, so it’s not going to happen overnight. Be patient, don’t rush, and never compare your progress to others.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Identify your WHY. Why are you choosing now to take control of your habits, and are you doing it for the right reasons? Are you doing it FOR yourself, to BETTER yourself? Once you figure that out and hold onto it tight, your journey becomes much easier.
