Transformation of the Day: Lala lost 34 pounds. She is a U.S. Army Veteran and a Certified Personal Trainer. Nine years ago, she started her transformation journey. Over the years, she figured out what eating habits work for her and how to shape her body with weight training.
What was your motivation?
My motivation came from knowing that I needed to improve my health.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
Other people’s transformations inspired me. I always told myself that if these people can do it, so can I. Anything is possible.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started removing the unhealthy foods from my diet one by one until it became a habit, and I no longer desired them.
What foods did you stop or start eating?
I stopped eating junk food, fast food, and pork (which I used to eat consistently a long time ago). I started eating more fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats. In the beginning, I did use a specific plan or diet. I changed my lifestyle by cutting things out little by little. Later on, I started following a healthy plan.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I did a lot of cardio circuits and HIIT workouts. Insanity workouts were my go-to.
How often did you workout?
I started by exercising three times a week, and over time I increased it.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 182 pounds, and my current weight is 148 pounds.
What is your height?
5’4″
When did you start your journey?
Nine years ago
How long did your transformation take?
It took me one year to lose the weight. After I lost weight, I was very slim. Over the following two years, I was introduced to weight training and began to shape my body.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, it isn’t.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned never to doubt myself and to never listen to other people’s negative options.
What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
- Make it a commitment. Ask yourself, “What is the goal?” and “Why is this important?”
- Take it day by day because fitness is a process. Stay motivated, be consistent, and be patient.

I love this story! I am really struggling to lose weight. I’m a lot older so it seems harder. I just want to lose 50 pounds.
