Transformation of the Day: Vicki lost 76 pounds. She wanted to avoid developing high blood pressure and diabetes. Walking for an hour every day and becoming a vegetarian really paid off for Vicki. She also credits therapy as a significant factor in her success.
My name is Vicki Nicole. I am 47 years old, and I live in Texas. I’ve lost 71 pounds during the last year and a half.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey on September 23, 2018.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was a desire to avoid getting high blood pressure, and diabetes like my mother has.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
What inspired me to keep going was looking at all the progress I’ve made and knowing I can keep going to achieve my goal.
How did you change your eating habits?
I became a vegetarian and changed my eating habits. I also stopped eating sugar and stopped drinking alcohol.
What was the hardest thing about becoming a vegetarian?
Becoming a vegetarian was actually very easy for me because of the way I eat. The hardest thing is the expense. It costs a lot to eat the way I do.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I started walking for an hour every day. So far, I haven’t done any other exercise except walking. I walk a little faster each week, and eventually, I hope to be able to run.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started my journey at 310 pounds, and now I weigh 234 pounds. I plan to lose 90 more pounds in the next two years.
What is your height?
I am 5’6″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that seeing a therapist is very important when you want to change your way of thinking regarding health and eating permanently.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Get a therapist. A therapist is worth the investment, in my opinion. You can check the local colleges and see if they have options for a free or cheap therapist. That’s what I did.
