Transformation of the Day: Merinda lost 125 pounds by changing her eating habits and working out four times a week. Health and fitness became top priorities for her. Along with physical strength, she worked to build up the mental strength to stay the course and not give up.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was getting in touch with myself and reflecting. I’ve always been pretty confident. However, when I took the time to honestly think about what it takes to become the best version of myself, I realized that health and fitness had to become priorities in my life.
I’ve struggled to keep weight off for so long, through constant weight gain and weight loss. One Sunday, my pastor preached a sermon about how every moment you’re closer than you’ve ever been before in your life. It struck a nerve in me to never give up because I don’t want to go backward and undo anymore progress in my life. I began building up my mental strength so that I would not give up.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by cutting excessive carbs, fat, sugar, and sugary alcohol from my diet. Intermittent Fasting helped me make progress as I changed my eating habits. Constantly drinking water has also been beneficial.
What did your workout routine look like? How often did you workout?
Early on in my journey, I wasn’t working out much at all. I was mainly consistent with eating right. 2019-2020 is when I began to get consistent both with eating right and working out at least four times out of the week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight 356.8 pounds and my current weight is 231.8 pounds.
What is your height?
5’4″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in 2016. My transformation has taken four years. 2019 and 2020 have been my most committed years.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
STAY CONSISTENT! Weight loss is not going to happen overnight, but you will see results! Be patient.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Build your mental strength along the way! Losing weight is difficult, and if your mind isn’t strong, it’s easy to give up.
