Transformation of the Day: Kyarra lost 38 pounds. She got results with meal prep, intermittent fasting, and by working out on her Peloton. She is getting married to her supportive fiancé this year and working towards her goal weight.
I was enlisted in the military when I found out I had cancer and had to have a splenectomy. I’ve also battled with depression and anxiety. I can say that meal prep and my Peloton bike have changed my life! Now, I’m cancer-free, and I currently work as a police officer in Virginia.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I went from 218 pounds to 180 pounds. I’ve lost a total of 38 pounds lost.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I’ve given up multiple times. The support from my fiancé and my desire to lost weight for the right reasons have allowed me to be steady and consistent.
How did you change your eating habits?
I eliminated junk food from my diet. As a police officer, it’s easy to eat fast food. I started meal prepping, incorporated intermittent fasting, and lowered my carb intake.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I use my Peloton bike. It was a gift from my fiancé for Christmas. I’ve been working out for at least 30 minutes every day. I’ve dealt with PTSD and sexual trauma, so physical fitness helps clear my mind.
What is your height?
5’7″
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in November 2019. I get married in six months, and I’m trying to get to my goal weight of 165 pounds.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned to stop comparing and focus on my own journey.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Be patient and find out what works for you. You didn’t gain 20 pounds in one week, so trying to lose it in one week is not sustainable or healthy. Work hard, find a great support system, have fun, and educate yourself about healthy cooking. It’s 80% what you eat and 20% working out!
