Update Nov 2020: Nicki lost 13 more pounds for a total of 52 pounds gone. By working out, keeping her net carbs under 20 grams a day, and focusing on non-scale victories.
What is your current weight?
156 pounds. In the previous post, I weighed 169 pounds.
How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
I work out six days a week. My workouts consist of weight training, walking, jump roping, squats, and pushups. I have a light active day on Sundays. On my light active days, I stretch or do squats and pushups only.
I continue to cut out sugar completely and keep my net carb intake under 20 grams a day. I sip green tea throughout the day, along with water and electrolytes. (Diet soda sometimes). I’m never starving or hungry. This is a lifestyle for me now, not a diet.
Of the lessons you’ve learned on your journey, which one stands out the most at this point?
What works for somebody else may not work for me! Focus on my goals, what works for me, and don’t give up!
Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
Yes, don’t focus on the scale as much as those non-scale victories! When the waist shrinks, your clothes fit looser. When you have more energy, it gives you the drive to keep going!
Transformation of the Day: Nicki lost 39 pounds. Her motivation was longevity and a desire to be a healthy mom for her children. She embraced the Keto lifestyle, worked hard in the gym and let go of her excuses.
When did you start your journey?
I have been on a weight loss journey since September 2019. So far, I’ve lost over 35 pounds and counting.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was to live longer and be a healthier mom for my children.
How did you change your eating habits?
I switched to a ketogenic style of eating and cut out carbs. Instead, I added more fat and protein to my diet.
Tell us about your workout routine.
Before the pandemic, my workout routine included going to the gym. Now I do home workouts, which include push-ups, squats, and dancing to Afro Beats. I also try to do 2-4 miles walking at the park. I usually work out daily (or a minimum of 4-5 days a week).
What is your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Sadly my weight peaked at 208 pounds. I began to see results four weeks after I started my journey. I currently weigh 169 pounds. My goal is 145-150, and I’m so close to the finish line!
What is your height?
I am 4’11”.
The scale hasn’t moved as low as I thought it would, but the non-scale results are proof in the pudding for me. I am getting my curvy shape back!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I have learned is that excuses should not derail your potential. Get started and keep going!
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to track what you eat, create weekly goals to stick too, and don’t give up.
