Transformation of the Day: Bryttni lost 140 pounds with healthy eating habits and exercise. Over the years, things like teasing, facing rejection, the challenges of finding clothing all took a toll on her. Now, she is full of self-love and has a new lease on life.
When did you start your journey?
What was your motivation?
My motivation: I horrifically teased from kids and family. I had a terrible childhood. Dating in my teens and early adulthood was horrific. At the time, no guys liked or wanted to be seen with big girls. I also couldn’t fit in plane seats, on rollercoaster rides… none of that, and it hurt.
The most hurtful thing you can say to a big girl is, “At least you got a pretty face.” It’s just horrible and painful. Guys would always say, “If you lost a little weight, it would be ok.” I faced years and years of rejection and never being “the one.”
Fat really affected me. Having to shop in the back of the store… how big the clothes are… just horrible.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My son kept saying, “Keep going! It’s for you, not the world.” He was my only supporter.
How did you change your eating habits?
I completely gave up dairy. I also cut out beef and pasta. I eat lots of veggies, fruit, rice, lean meats (like turkey and chicken), and coconut milk. I have less of a sweet tooth after I gave up everything, including alcohol.
What did your workout routine consist of?
Swimming, walking, stretching, bowling, rowing, squats, and working out on the Stairmaster. I take long, long walks.
How often did you workout?
3-4 times a week
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I went from 330 pounds to 190 pounds over the course of eight years.
What is your height?
6 feet tall
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
It’s easy to lose weight, but it’s hard to maintain and stay consistent. I’ve lost lots of weight physically. I also lost people, old habits, and old ways of thinking. However, I’ve gained a lot. Mentally, I have a new lease on life.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
You’ve got to keep going. The harder you go, the more you gain self-love and self-worth. Along with the weight loss you lose, you will gain so much more in terms of self-worth.
Also, you may not be able to have the same people around you when you are losing weight because you may stop or be distracted by them.
Never stop! Keep going. Slow and easy wins the longevity race. Trust me.
