Update July 2021: Shout out to Nishha! She maintained her physique and lost six more pounds for a total of 24 pounds gone.
What is your current weight?
I weigh 132 pounds currently. After losing weight from two pregnancies, it’s easy to take it to the next level and work on weight training and building definition and muscle.
How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
Resistance training and doing cardio twice a week were mandatory for me to maintain my physique and lose fat. Along with a healthy balanced diet. (This means I ate healthy 80% of the time, and the other 20% was whatever I liked) The key was about being consistent and making sure that I got my macros and calories down by the end of the day. Yes, I fail short some days, but it’s not linear growth.
Of the lessons you’ve learned on your journey, which one stands out the most at this point?
1. Lesson number one was not to compare myself to other individuals who have been through the same journey because our journeys may not be the same.
2. Resistance training and cardio combined is a must in order for you to lose fat and maintain/build good muscle. (Do not neglect one or the other.) The amount of cardio needed will depend on your goals and the look you’re going for.
3. Never give up! You have to remember that fat loss and muscle growth both take time. Just because one individual did it in a month does not mean you will be able to. However, we just need to count and celebrate our small wins every single day.
Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
Get on a plan and stick to it. Be as consistent as you possibly can. And remember, it’s OK to take breaks. Breaks are needed mentally and physically. – @nishha_curves
Transformation of the Day: Nishha lost 18 pounds after giving birth. This mother of two feared she would not be able get the fat off post-pregnancy. She changed her eating habits, did HIIT cardio, and learned how to enjoy the process.
