Transformation of the Day: Jessania lost 65 pounds. Growing up, she was always the biggest, tallest girl in class. Over the years, she grew to love and appreciate her curves. After experiencing a miscarriage, she was told that her weight, PCOS, and fibroids were negatively affecting her reproductive health. She decided to change her lifestyle and have VSG surgery.
When did you start your journey?
My journey started in March 2019.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation stems from the sheer fact that I have been overweight my entire life. I was always the biggest and tallest girl in class. By the time I was in 3rd grade, I was 100 plus pounds overweight. I was picked on up until high school, where I became more active and joined my high school dance team. Although I was active due to running laps at practice and doing drill after drill nonstop, I was still plus-sized and the biggest girl on the team.
After graduating from high school, I started to enjoy my weight. I fell in love with fashion and embraced my every curve. Soon after my college graduation, I met my husband, who loved me and everything about me that I viewed as flaws. Our five-year-long friendship resulted in us tying the knot. Shortly after we got married, we got pregnant, which was the highlight of our lives. Both of us have always wanted children and a big family. Seven weeks into my pregnancy, I had a miscarriage. This was by far the hardest trial in our marriage to date. The worse part was hearing that I had a miscarriage because I had PCOS, fibroids and that I was too overweight. I decided I had to make a change no matter what!
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Yes! I was sleeved on August 29, 2019, and it was the most amazing day of my life. I had my procedure done in Tijuana, Mexico, at Pompeii Surgical Center by Dr. Q. The experience was a 5 out of 5. Everything was absolutely fantastic in every aspect! I will be going back after I have children, by the grace of God, to do a mommy makeover!
How did you change your eating habits?
I began by doing the Keto diet and cutting out carbs and sugar. Although I did see some results, I didn’t like the idea of eating so much fat, so much meat, and not being able to eat all kinds of fruits. So, currently, I’m a pescatarian transitioning to become a vegetarian.
