Transformation of the Day: Ashley lost 47 pounds. She’s always lived an active lifestyle, but being out of share made her favorite activities less enjoyable. With a Keto diet, high-intensity interval training, and a new mindset, she is shedding pounds and thriving. She even inspired her mom to go Keto.
My name is Ashley, and I’m 23 years old. I’ve lost a total of 47 pounds since June 2019. After finishing school, I realized that I had let my health slip out of my hands. I have always enjoyed being active. However, many of the things I enjoy, like hiking, swimming, etc., I couldn’t do anymore because I was out of shape and not comfortable in my skin.
Throughout the years, I’ve tried many things to lose weight, from calorie counting to becoming a vegetarian. I started the Keto diet last June, and I’ve not turned back since. I stay inspired to continue on my weight loss journey because I feel myself getting stronger. I’ve even inspired some of my family to continue on their health journeys! My mom specifically! I changed my eating habits by changing my mindset. I started eating to feel my best. I began to say no to foods that would trigger me to want to binge eat or foods that triggered emotional eating. The more I said no, the easier it got, and it just turned into a habit. Now I eat a higher fat/lower carb diet. I try to avoid high carb, processed, sugary foods as much as possible because I know they won’t help me achieve my goal of feeling my best.
I enjoy being active. I always have maintained some sort of active lifestyle even while at my highest weight. I exercise about 4-5 days a week doing HIIT (high-intensity interval training).
The biggest lesson I have learned is that the journey to lose weight and live a healthier life is all mental. You have to change your mindset to change your life, to make new habits, and move forward when it gets hard.
For people who are trying to lose weight, I would advise them to think about why they want to lose weight. Set your focus on that reason and keep pushing towards it. If you mess up, get back on track. Whether it’s the next meal or the next day, but don’t give up. Consistency is key.
