Transformation of the Day: Jenelle lost 54 pounds. She was ready for change, so she took action to transform her body and her health. By cutting out processed food, eating more whole, nutrient-rich foods, and working out consistently, she is getting impressive results.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was myself, my will to change how I look, what I saw in the mirror for years, and a desire to look and be different! When I wanted to give up, I looked back at old pictures. I saw how far I’d come and the results of all my hard work. I didn’t want to let myself down or let down the people who are rooting for me!
How did you change your eating habits?
I started using moderation and portion control. I eventually ran across the 21 Day Meal Plan in January 2019 and started using that. It consisted of me cutting out added sodium, sugar, carbs, and processed foods. I began to eat more real foods and drink plenty of water daily. I stopped consuming lots of processed food altogether and started looking at nutrition labels more to know what I’m actually eating. I’m currently following the plan loosely and adding some additional items that are still healthy and smart choices.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you workout?
I rarely went to the gym until I decided to change. I have consistently worked out at least three days a week for the past two years. During my workouts, I did weight lifting, and at least 30 minutes of cardio. I also got in a 1-2 mile walk on days that I may not have worked out.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 323. My current weight is 269.4.
What is your height?
5’7″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take? I started my journey in March of 2018. I am still working to maintain my health and lose pounds. I am still transforming!
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson was learning to not be so hard on myself. Weight loss is a journey, and it takes time. Slowly but surely, results will come!
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Take pictures! Nothing shows your results more than a photo! Also, stay on track as much as you can. Plan ahead for events where there may not be healthier food choices available or foods that you may not want. One meal, cookies, a snack, etc. will not undo months and/or years of work. If there is a party with cake, still have cake (Maybe half a slice or just a bite). Don’t punish yourself from enjoying life.
