Transformation of the Day: Angela lost 65 pounds with a Ketogenic lifestyle. She learned that there is a difference between weight loss and fat loss. Keto has proven life-changing for her, improving her health and her mental and spiritual well-being.
My name is Angela, and I’m 36 years old. The picture on the left was taken when I weighed 215 pounds. After I changed my eating habits and incorporated a Ketogenic lifestyle, I went down to 150 pounds in the picture on the right.
After struggling for years with weight loss, different failed diets, and money wasted on personal trainers. I decided to pursue a different avenue. My husband mentioned the Keto lifestyle to me years ago, but at the time, I wasn’t ready for change. It was at my daughter’s 6th birthday photoshoot when I realized I need a lifestyle change, but didn’t know where to start. Later on, the Keto lifestyle was brought back up to me by a friend. She mentioned her weight loss journey, and I was truly inspired by her story and quick results!
What did you stop or start eating as you transitioned to Keto?
Before I started my ketogenic journey, I loved eating all the wrong things. My favorite things to eat were Doritos, Life Savers big ring gummies, and bread. Ginger ale was my favorite drink, and I loved eating processed foods.
During my transitioning stage, I started eating cleaner foods. I ate proteins, like chicken, fish, and pork, and healthy fats, like olive oil, MCT oil, coconut oil, ghee, and macadamia oil. I also started eating more veggies. I never thought I would love cauliflower, but it’s actually one of my favorite vegetables. I cook it at least three times out of the week. I also eat a lot of broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, and asparagus.
My daily calorie goal is 1837 calories a day. My daily macro goals are 147 grams of fats, 106 grams of protein, and 20 grams of carbs.
What did your workout routine consist of?
At the beginning of my journey, my workout routine consisted of me walking a dam (which was 3.4 miles) with light 2.5 lbs arms and ankle weights at least four times out of the week. I also did steps two times out of the week for an hour. As I progressed in my weight loss/lifestyle journey, I’ve added strength training and HIIT training to my workouts.
What is your height?
5’2″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in March 2019, and it took me six months to reach my goals.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned to play better attention to my body and to watch what I eat because a lot of chronic illness begins with gut health.
What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
NEVER give up on yourself. Love the person you are now, and celebrate the person you will/want to be! It starts with mental health first. Speak positivity into yourself and over your life.
- “I WILL ACHIEVE MY GOALS”
- “I AM ENOUGH”
- “I AM BEAUTIFUL”
Go into this process focused on losing Fat and not Weight, because it’s a big difference between the two. Also, NEVER look at your lifestyle change as the big D word: “diet” because you will treat it as temporary. Lastly, push through self-doubt and fear! You CAN DO IT!
Today I am happy to say I’m 65 pounds lighter and continuing my wellness/weight loss journey while living this beautiful Keto lifestyle. The Keto has changed not just my health, but my mental, financial, and spiritual well-being have all improved because of the shift I made in my life. This is truly an experience everyone deserves. I’m blessed that I can help people achieve a better life, starting with Keto! It’s never too late to try something new. It’s never too late to achieve a better you. There’s no better time to start than now.
