Transformation of the Day: Victoria lost 45 pounds. As she was approaching 35 years old, she decided it was time to be happier, healthier, and kick low self-esteem to the curb. She made practical changes to her eating habits and increased her daily step totals.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was that I was tired of my body hurting, and I was tired of not feeling 100%. I also wasn’t happy with my appearance, and I had low self-esteem. I knew I wanted to change because I was turning 35 years old. I wanted more for myself and to be happy with myself.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
What helped me not to give up was that I saw my progress and how much weight I’d lost. I also don’t have scales in my home. I just weighed myself at work once a month so that I would not be obsessed with weighing myself.
How did you change your eating habits?
I gave up red meat and ate more veggies. I drink a lot of smoothies as meal replacements. I didn’t have a specific plan. I was just a lot more cautious about what I was eating. I still ate my pizza, and I would have ice cream now and then. Basically, I just ate more veggies and drank lots of water. I also cut back on fried foods.
What did your workout routine look like? How often did you workout?
I walked every day. My goal was to take 10,000-18,000 steps a day, even on my off days from work. I also jogged and did workouts at home in between the jogging/walking.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 230 pounds, and my current weight is 185 pounds.
What is your height?
5’6″
When did you start your journey?
August 2018
How long did your transformation take?
In May 2019, I did my final weigh-in.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery wasn’t part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I can do anything that I put my mind to. I have the tools to make myself happy, and that’s what I did. This was one of my goals, and I actually accomplished it.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Start now! It will be very hard, but you can do it. Take your time, but make it happen.
