Update: Shasta lost 14 more pounds for a total of 74 pounds gone. She got results by cutting out processed foods and adopting a low-carb regimen.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My son is still one of my biggest motivations. I want him to understand how important it is to take care of himself. That’s something I wish I was taught growing up. When I want to give up I just remind myself of all the hard work I put into myself and how I never want to feel the way I did with the extra weight again.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started out with strict keto, which got too restrictive. I still follow somewhat of a low carb regimen. However, for the most part I just try to focus on eating healthy foods and avoiding as much processed food as I can
What does your workout routine look like?
I run 3-4 days a week if I’m up for it.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 260 pounds. My heaviest weight was 274 pounds and my current weight is around 186 pounds.
What is your height?
5’7″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey in October 2018. I’m not quite to my goal but it’s taken me about 13 months to get where I’m at now.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery to date
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I have learned to show myself grace because I’m not perfect. No one is. Also, I learned that I will want to quit some days but giving up is not the answer.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Stop comparing your weight loss/fitness journey to the people around you. Everyone is not the same and every journey is unique. On the days you want to quit and slide back into old habits, sit down, breathe and remember how far you’ve come.
