Transformation of the Day: Dorothy lost 30 pounds and several dress sizes. After some failed relationships, she consoled herself unhealthy eating habits and inactivity. Tired of being winded by basic tasks and tired of being seen as the “chubby friend,” she decided to take action. Now, she’s reached her New Year’s goal of being under 200lbs. Check out her journey.
I gained weight after moving from NY to Dallas. I experienced failed relationships, which led to bad eating and laying around all day. Initially, I sought help and tried a weight loss management program. I took phentermine for one week and lost 11 pounds, but I didn’t like the side effects. Then, I was fortunate to meet with my friend’s fiance @coreybfit, who is a personal trainer. He gave me a great work out plan.
Here I am today, 30 pounds down. I have reached my New Year’s goal to be under 200 pounds.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was a trip to Miami. I also found motivation in living on the 3rd floor and being winded from just showering or getting dressed. I have a son, and I rarely had the energy to do anything.
As a Sales Agent, my job is image-based. I was tired of settling for ordering dresses at a 3x and then almost a size 4x (because I am so busty). I was also approaching my 40th bday and no longer wanted to be the “chubby friend.”
Some friends even nudged me to get it together. I listened, prayed, and let go of the things that drained me. I redirected all my sexual energy to the gym. Being celibate, not dating, and protecting my space was essential.
How did you change your eating habits?
I am on a low carb diet, but I don’t deprive myself at all. I drink lots of water, and I stopped eating out as frequently. Staying home helps me avoid unnecessary temptation.
What is your workout routine?
I work out 5-7 days a week doing strength training and cardio (with the workout plan I got from my friend’s fiance). I also do foam rolling and use the sauna regularly. I can be in the sauna for up to 45 minutes most of the time. I take pre-workout for energy. I also waist train daily to slim out as well.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 229 pounds, and now I weight 199 pounds. I’ve gone from a size 20 to a size 14, and I can fit my arm into my size 12 blazer. Seeing my transformation and getting noticed by more men motivates me because I look and feel better.
What is your height?
I am 5’7″.
How long did your transformation take?
I lost 30 pounds in under three months. I did start taking phentermine the first week (I started on 9/3) for seven days. As I noted before, I lost 11 pounds but hated how I felt after taking it.
