Transformation of the Day: Devyn lost 24 pounds, developed a love for fitness, and got her life back. After giving birth to her daughter, she experienced depression and weight gain. She felt alone, disgusted, and her marriage was affected. Joining an all-women’s boot camp gave her hope and inspiration. Check out her journey.
My name is Devyn, but most people call me Peachie. I’m 28 years old, and my height is 5’2″. I began my journey back in February 2018.
I had no clue how much fitness would change me for the better. After I had my daughter back in 2016, I became very depressed. I felt alone, and I was disgusted with how much weight I’d gained. None of my clothes fit me anymore, and I didn’t feel beautiful. I felt completely negative. It became so bad that my marriage was on the line.
Deep down, I knew I had to make a change. My soul was BEGGING me to change. I decided to join an all-women’s boot camp, and I fell in love with it. I met some of the strongest women there. That’s when I realized I wasn’t alone. It became about more than just working out and looking good. I felt good mentally too. I made new friendships, and I was even inspiring other people
Now, I am pursuing a career in the fitness industry. I’m about to start a Health Coaching program, and I’m getting my certifications for Personal Training, Nutrition, and Group Fitness. Fitness saved me from depression. My marriage with my husband has gotten a lot better, and he’s even working out again. I’m so much happier now, and it shows.
My starting weight was 194 pounds (my heaviest!). Almost two years later, I’m down to 170 pounds. I’ve lost 24 pounds NATURALLY and lost a lot of inches too. I’m 20lbs away from my goal.
I workout 4-5 days out of the week (usually Monday-Friday). My workouts consist of weight training, cardio, and HIIT.
I’ve tried many diets, but none of them have worked for me. However, staying away from junk food and not eating out has played a big part. I cook my meals at home and measure out how much I eat. Make sure that my portion sizes are on point. I also drink a gallon of water a day.
My biggest lesson is that you have to love yourself first. Don’t lose yourself to motherhood. You can still become a better YOU.
My advice: Everyone’s journey is different. Some people’s progress might seem faster than yours, but that doesn’t mean you should quit. Slow progress is better than no progress. Keep going regardless, and don’t EVER compare yourself to anyone. Be your own body goals!
