Transformation of the Day: Lauren lost 63 pounds. Her turning point came while watching her beloved sister fight for her life after having organ failure and spending months in the hospital. Eating low carb meals, meal prepping, and consistently hitting the gym worked for her. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I gained 60 pounds in 3 years, and I was struggling with anxiety and depression. Then, my 32 year old sister went into organ failure, had four surgeries in 9 months, and spent months in the hospital. Watching her fight so hard to regain her life inspired me to take control of mine. I wanted to be healthy and active. I knew that if she can fight, so can I. I couldn’t give up. Oh, I also wanted to just look HOT in general, lol.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started intermittent fasting, 16:8, and eating a low carb diet of 100 grams of carbs or less a day with a calorie deficit. My goal was 1500 calories a day. I stopped eating red meat, pork, and fried food. I stopped drinking juice and stayed far away from fast food. Meal prepping was essential on my journey, and I did that every Sunday. I also have an office job, so I started walking at least 250 steps every hour so that I would remain active throughout the day. My Fitbit Versa always reminded me.
What did your exercise routine look consist of?
I went to the gym five days a week and only did HIIT cardio on the Stairmaster for the first four months. I lost 35 pounds doing that. Then I started incorporating weight training four days a week along with cardio.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned that consistency is the key to a healthy lifestyle. It’s a journey, and it has to be for life. You can’t rush it, and you have to be kind to yourself during the process to heal inside out.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Just start. Even if you take small steps, if they are in the right direction, you will eventually get to your destination. Be patient with your process and challenge yourself during the process. If you mess up or cheat, hop back on the journey. We are all human, but don’t quit on yourself after a setback.Β
Keep pushing, keep striving to be the best version of yourself.
