Update Sept 2020: Shout out to Dominique. She lost 34 more pounds for total of 83 pounds gone.
I’m down 83 pounds. I never had a goal weight. Right now, I’m trying to focus on eating healthy and staying active. Most people think the hardest part is losing the weight. I say, the hardest part is keeping it off. @Recharge_watt5
November 2019 – Transformation of the Day: Dominique lost 49 pounds. She wanted to be a healthy example for her children, especially her middle daughter. With yoga, healthier eating habits, and intermittent fasting, she has achieved great results. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
When I started my weight loss journey, I was depressed and insecure about everything about myself. One day I said to myself, “If you don’t like it, do something about it.” That is the day I decided to start changing my mindset and eating habits.
I lost 20 pounds in a month or so. Once I saw that the changes I was making were working, nothing could stop me. I never set a goal weight because I honestly just want to be healthy. I also want to be an example for my kids.
My whole family kept me going, especially my middle daughter. The smile I see on her face when she sees me reach my goals is enough by itself. We both struggle with weight, and I’m inspired to keep going for her. I wanted to learn all about healthy eating habits so that I could teach her.
How did you change your eating habits?
I don’t eat beef or pork. I cut out all sweets and fast food. Unhealthy food was an out of sight/out of mind, kind of thing. I also did intermittent fasting. My eating window was from 12 pm to 8 pm every day.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I did yoga five days a week at home in my living room (with YouTube videos). I also did a lot of yoga challenges on Instagram. I have started using light weights at home and choosing workouts that will help me focus on whatever problem area I feel like I have.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 220 pounds, and my current weight is 171.4 pounds.
What is your height?
5’3″
When did you start your journey?
I started the day after Christmas. Each year, I set a New Year’s resolution, and I never kept up with any of them. I thought, “Maybe if I started the month before the new year, I would keep at it.” Luckily, it worked. I started noticing a difference by March.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned to have patience and be consistent. If you do those two things together, you will go a long way.
