Transformation of the Day: Nicole lost 39 pounds. After filing for divorce after a 22-year-old relationship, she was ready for change. Her turning point came when her blood pressure reached 232/150, and she found herself in the emergency room. She shared with us how she took control of her health and her life.
What was your motivation?
I made myself a priority over 15 months ago after filing for divorce and ending a 22-year-old, toxic relationship. I knew it was time for a change when my blood pressure reached an astounding 232/150. I was in the ER, and the doctors didn’t understand how I was surviving. That’s when I knew I had to fully take my life back and love myself into a healthy state.
I’m 43 years old, and all I’ve known myself to be was a wife and mother. My children are now adults, so it was /is my time.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started to change my eating habits slowly, incorporating fruits, veggies, and a gallon of water a day. I no longer eat pork or beef.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I worked out three times a week for 1 hour. I started walking at a local track. Once I began noticing results, I joined a gym and incorporated weight and strength training workouts that I found on Instagram and Pinterest.
Starting weight/Current weight
I’m down 39 pounds on this 5’7″ frame. In the beginning, I weighed 239 pounds. Now I weigh 200 pounds. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m so proud of myself! There is life on the other side of divorce.
When did you start your journey?
I started at the beginning of February 2018.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned that self-care is a priority. As it relates to working out, I learned that everybody is different and that we have to be patient with the process.
What advice would you like to share?
Educate yourself on how to get rid of weight, not lose it. When we get rid of something, we no longer want it. When we LOSE something, we often try to find it. Change your perspective on weight and tailor it to your lifestyle.

You look so much more happier….Congratulations! You are an inspiration to me. I am 54 and my doctors are threatening me with blood pressure medication if I don’t get my act together. As of right now I am not on any meds and don’t want to be. I recently joined a gym and hired a personal trainer. He really kicks my butt when we meat and I also go to workout on my own. I found for the first time that I actually like going to the gym. It’s a lot of fun. I am also being more mindful of what I eat. It’s a slow process for me, but I am seeing some results after a couple of weeks of changing my ways.
Keep up the good work
