Transformation of the Day: Octavia lost 38 pounds. This Jacksonville, FL based author was battling pre-diabetes, depression, PCOS, and unhealthy eating habits. She turned her life around by joining a gym, going Keto, and committing to a healthier lifestyle. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I was my own motivation. I would try my hardest not to look in mirrors because I hated what I saw. Battling PCOS, unhealthy eating, and depression skyrocketed my weight up to 236 pounds. Carrying so much weight at 5’1” was torture on my body. The day I went to Old Navy, and size 18 jeans were becoming too tight, I knew I had to change and get my life back on track. So, I joined a gym, began the Keto Diet, and increased my water intake.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started with breakfast. Instead of the large plate of grits that I was accustomed to, I ate two scrambled eggs and sausage. I stopped eating bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes, as well. I also incorporated nuts and cheeses into my routine as snacks instead of candy and cookies.
How often did you workout?
I worked out three days a week. Before losing weight, I was 100% inactive.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 236 pounds, and my current weight is 198 pounds.
– Before: 236lbs/2xl top/size 18 jeans/Pre-diabetic
– After: 198lbs/Medium top/size 14 jeans/no longer Pre-Diabetic
When did you start your journey?
I started in August 2018. I’m not at my goal weight of 180lbs yet. I’m still working on it.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery is not.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Hard work pays off.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
A lot of people procrastinate. Don’t wait until later to start your weight loss journey. Do it now.
