Rochelle lost 26 pounds by changing her eating habits and working out at her own pace. Her turning point came when she found out that she was pre-diabetic and had insulin resistance. Her love for her family inspired her to keep going. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to lose my weight came when I found out that I was pre-diabetic and insulin resistant. That was my wake up call for sure! It didn’t hit me until I got home, did my research, and cried like a baby. I didn’t want to die! I have years of life ahead of me.
My inspiration to keep striving, even when I wanted to give up, was my family and my husband. I didn’t want to leave either behind. Also, I was my inspiration. I’ve admired myself more than I ever have since I’ve started working out. Now, I can say that I love the skin that I’m in, and I actually mean it!
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by meal prepping, eating smaller portions, and adding protein to my diet every day. I also drink Bragg’s apple cider vinegar every morning before I eat breakfast.
I drink LOTS of water, and it has done my skin wonders as well. I add cucumbers to my water. I’ve started eating more green foods and have left eating fast food alone. If I do eat fast food, it’s on Saturday’s, which is my cheat day (ONLY at lunchtime!).
You can decide when you would like your cheat day to be. Everyone is different, but I find it more rewarding on Saturdays, especially since I’ve worked hard throughout the week.
Tell us about your workout routine.
My workout routine consists of 36 minutes of Taebo, Monday thru Friday. After that, I do a workout for 11 minutes that specifically targets the abs.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 241 pounds. I currently weigh 215 pounds. My goal is to weigh 180 pounds, so I’m not done yet. I have a little more grinding to do!
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
When did you start your journey?
I’ve started my weight loss journey on June 6, 2019. My transformation was incredibly fast! When I look at my before and after pictures, sometimes think it was too fast. The weight just started to fall off once I started eating healthy and working out.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that you have to be patient. Good things come to those who wait. Weight loss won’t happen overnight because you didn’t gain it all in one night. Be patient with yourself and love yourself through this process. Your time will come.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Never give up on yourself! That first workout is always the hardest, so pace yourself and don’t overdo it! Also, be your best friend through this journey. Love yourself harder, and be committed. Hold yourself accountable as well. In the middle of your journey, you’ll start to like working out more and more each day.
Make a change, Ladies! Don’t talk about it, be about it. In the end, your struggles will lead you towards your strengths.
